Queer Pets Two
The title "Queer Pets"is a nod to Australia's iconic performer Magda Szubanski. In the 1990s Fast Forward comedy series, she plays character Lynne Postlethwaite. Whose famous catch phrase "I said love I said pet." is still quoted today.
So, as Magda is a queer icon [and a little bit queer herself] with a fabulous catch phrase, the title "Queer Pets" was born in 2023. The Queer Petd 2023 Exhibition was the first LGBTQIA+ show in the Snowy Monaro region. Held at the MAG Gallery the show was covered by Regional ABC Australia and appeared on the 7pm ABC news in February 2023.
QUEER PETS TWO is being held at the Raglan Gallery Cooma in February 2024 to celebrate the Mardi Gras theme "Our Future" on the Snpwy Monaro region.
The artists have reponded to the theme of this exhibition which is about Identiy in Place. "Place"meaning a physical place, and a metaphysical or imaginative space. With a consideration for queer existence and identity in everyday life interacting with notions of place. The works demonstrate how "belonging" can hold meaning to place"place". Where time is a constant and identity exists in that continuum.
The artists wish everyone on the Snowy Monaro region a happy Mardi Gras 2024 and hope you all enjoy the exhibition.

It's a love letter to Mums. It's a moment to switch on the light so now we see Mum. We see her with her most precious ones. We see her radiance and strength. We hear her story of love, pain, sacrifice, resilience, power and courage. And we say thank you.
